The Omukwano agreement includes both
Robusta coffee, cultivated in the Lake Victoria basin at varying altitude of 900-1,500 Metres, and
Arabica in the mountainous areas in the north of the country.
Uganda produces some of the finest coffees in the world. The
Robusta tree is indigenous of the area, while the
Arabica comes from the neighbouring Ethiopia, place of origin of coffee.
The advantages offered by the
Omukwano project, coupled with the constant supervision by NUCAFE, provide an opportunity to farmers to produce a coffee of outstanding character with respect to the ordinary products available in the market.
